My name is Tammy and I was chosen to tell you a little bit about my family and our farm.
My dad, Gordon, has farmed his whole life and after he married
my mom,
Kathy, (which he was lucky to find a woman who works as
hard as she does!) and he purchased the farm. At the time they
milked only 40 cows that produced 50 pounds of milk per day.
They also worked 260 acres of land.
As the family grew so did the farm. There are four of us kids who all help out. I am in charge of feeding and taking care of all the newborn calves. My brother Ben is here every day doing field work and making sure all the animals get fed. My sister Jackie does the early morning
milking and assists my mom in all herd operations.
Matt is the youngest and is here to help do whatever is needed. Dad does lots of fieldwork and handles the financial aspects.
There are now 1000 animals on the farm, 530 which we milk 3 times a day in our new milking parlor. They give us over 30,000 pounds of milk per day. We operate 3,000 acres of land consisting mostly of corn, wheat, and soybeans.
